Live Delay is 4ZZZ FM / ZED Digitals premier live music roundup.Traversing the lucky continents feverish live music scene, we close in and showcase a particular Australian zone each week, chewing away at some very special live recordings of independent artists.Made collaboratively with the assistance of many live-wired Australian community broadcasters, Live Delay is produced at 4ZZZ, Brisbane and distributed nationally by Community Radio Network, and in South East Asia by Frequency Asia.Catch brand new episodes every Saturday at 4pm on the Community Radio Network, every Sunday at 7pm on Zed Digital, and every Monday at 6pm on Frequency Asia.     Ed Kuepper: Performing live at The Princess Theatre, Woolloongabba, on the 28th of December 2023 This week on Live Delay we feature Meanjin-Brisbane rock n roll icon Ed Kuepper's performance at the Princess Theatre in Woolloongabba on the 28th of December 2023. Co-founder of the Saints, Laughing Clowns and the Aints!, he was also featured on Live Delay episode 404 and 405 playing alongside the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at The Tivoli in November of 2020. Besides his prolific punk rock and post-punk work with larger bands, he has released over twelve solo albums of his own, winning the Best Independent Release ARIA award for 1993's Black Ticket Day and 1994's Serene Machine.     Perry Street Park: Live at Lazy Days Festival, The Zoo, Fortitude Valley, 3 June 2023 Perry Street Park are a Meanjin-Brisbane based pop-rock band that crystallised around sessions with Benny Nelson around 2018. After a long time working on material during the COVID-19, Nelson announced the formation of Perry Street Park at a live show supporting Paul Kelly in 2021, the full lineup consisting of Benny Nelson, Sebastian 'Baz' Jennings-Hingston, Ryan Brook and Harry Shakespeare. As Perry Street Park they've released five singles and one EP, three of those singles released in 2023 and that could only mean this is their best year yet.     Greg Charles & The Ex-Catholics: Performing live at the Triffid for Sonic Masala Fest on the 12th of August 2023 Greg Charles is a Toowoomba-born songwriter with about 20 years of experience on the scene in SE QLD, he's been a member of Blonde Cobra and 6Majik9, earned the first Grant McLennan fellowship awarded in 2007 and released a solo album 'Rough Music' in 2016. The Ex-Catholics are his band and consist of Dylan Jeffries on bass, Alexander 'Sleepy Morrison' on drums and Sky McNicol on violin, they've previously played in support of Ed Kuepper and Jim White.     Vintage Crop: Live at Sonic Masala Fest, The Triffid, Newstead, 13 August 2023 This episode features Geelong garage rock/post-punk outfit Vintage Crop playing Sonic Masala 2023. Vintage Crop started in 2012 by vocalist-guitarist Jack Cherry in his bedroom. He was eventually joined by Tyson Harper on guitar and brother Luke and Tyler O'Brien in the rhythm section. Vintage Crop have been touring and recording for over ten years and have developed a local and international fan base. They've churned out four studio albums and four EPs full of their signature brand of jangly post-punk. The round out the show we're throwing back to last year's Sonic Masala with a part of Platonic Sex's set from 2022. Now based in Meanjin-Brisbane, SAIK is Aika and Mimi's R'n'B/pop project. They've been delivering electric performances with their backing band - Dustin, Takeshi and Alex - since the end of pandemic, taking inspiration from acts like Doja Cat, Remi Wolf and Dua Lipa. Enoch-Barlow is a rapper and poet with a single recorded solo EP, 'VOICE', released in 2022. Ethan has also performed as a member of hip-hop trio Barefoot Boyz and The Ancient Bloods, beside a prolific interest in poetry, spoken word and theatre performance.     Hat Fitz & Cara: Live on the The Doo Wop Bar, Brisbane CBD, 17 June 2023 Hat Fitz is a veteran wild-man blues aficionado with a record 18 in-a-row appearances at Byron Bay Blues fest, a testament to his ability to spellbind his audiences with his bluesy convict spirit. He performs with his partner Cara, who had toured the US and Europe on several occasions supporting the likes of the hugely popular Corinne Bailey-Rae as a singer, but she's not just a pretty voice. Cara takes great pleasure in providing percussion to the mix and often lays down the rhythm with more traditional blues instruments like the tin whistle and washboard. DancingWater is also the name of the band's frontwoman and vocalist, in this episode's performance from 2021's Yonder Festival DancingWater simmers with charisma and tension as she delivers her vision with feelings to an enraptured audience. At the time of this performance, the band claimed to be 'under 12 months old', and so this particular show is a porthole into the heady first year of a major performing talent. Outspoken and incredibly talented, DancingWater will surely go on to raise the temperature in Australia's music scene, for all of the reasons.
